01 Our commitment
Rich Energy is committed to making this website accessible to as wide an audience as possible, regardless of ability, technology or circumstance. We design and build with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 in mind, and aim to meet Level AA.
02 What we've done
Specific things we've built into the site:
- Semantic structure: proper heading order, landmark regions and lists, so screen readers can navigate the page sensibly.
- Keyboard support: every interactive element is reachable and operable with a keyboard. A "skip to content" link appears on focus for keyboard users.
- Visible focus: a gold dashed outline on any focused element, with generous offset for clarity.
- Colour contrast: body text and interactive elements are checked against WCAG AA contrast ratios. Decorative gold accents are not relied on alone to convey information.
- Reduced motion: users who set
prefers-reduced-motionin their operating system see static layouts — the hero, section reveals, logo animation and image transitions are disabled automatically. - Responsive type and layout: the site scales cleanly down to 320px wide and up to large desktops, and respects browser font-size preferences.
- Image alt text: meaningful images have descriptive alt text; decorative images are marked as such so assistive tech can skip them.
- Form labels: all contact and sign-up form fields have visible labels and clear error states.
03 Known limitations
We try to keep the site accessible, but we know nothing is perfect. Current known limitations:
- The animated stag mark in the footer uses SMIL gradient animation, which is decorative and hidden from assistive technology.
- Some third-party content embedded in news articles (where present) may not meet the same accessibility standard as the rest of the site.
We work on these as we go and welcome reports of anything else that gets in your way.
04 Compatibility
The site is designed to work with the current and previous major versions of:
- Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop.
- Chrome, Safari and Samsung Internet on mobile.
- Common screen readers, including VoiceOver (macOS / iOS), NVDA (Windows), JAWS (Windows) and TalkBack (Android).
JavaScript is used to enhance the experience but the core content of every page is available without it.
05 Reporting an issue
If you run into something on the site that's hard to use, or if you'd like content in an alternative format, please tell us. We aim to respond within five working days.
- Email: accessibility@richenergysystems.com
- Or use our contact form and choose the "General" topic.
When you write to us, it helps to include:
- The page you were on (web address).
- What you were trying to do.
- What went wrong, and any assistive technology you were using.
06 Enforcement
UK visitors: if you contact us about an accessibility problem and you're not happy with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS). EU visitors can raise concerns under your country's transposition of the European Accessibility Act. US visitors with concerns under the Americans with Disabilities Act can contact us first and, if needed, pursue formal channels in your state or with the Department of Justice.
